A New Boston High School senior is dead this morning after an apparent accidental shooting.

New Boston Police Chief Tony King said the shooting didn't appear to be intentional. Authorities say three people were detailing a vehicle when they found a weapon.

So far no arrests have been made.

David Chase owns a business right across the street from Fawcett car wash, where high school football player Semaj Williams was shot and killed. "I just hate to hear the good kids... things like that could happen to the good kids as well."

Just after 10 o'clock Wednesday night police say Williams and his friend Aaron Conkleton were washing a car when they found a gun. Neighbors say they heard multiple shots around that time. Chase said, "There was at least 4. I don't know how many hit the kid but obviously it only takes one good shot to do it."
Some say it was a horrible accident, while others say differently. New Boston School Superintendent, Gary VanDeaver said the boys were known to be good friends and New Boston is hurting together. "Members of the football team become very close, it's a family situation. We're just trying to reach out to them and help them deal with the situation."

Chase said, there are lessons to be learned from the incident. "These are real bullets, these are serious. They tear up families and they hurt people. And the kid who shot the other accidentally, he's going to have to live with that for the rest of his life."

School officials say they are treating this as an accidental shooting, unless they hear otherwise from police. Aaron Conkleton, the young man who police say is the shooter, is still eligible to play football this season. There was a scrimmage scheduled for Thursday, that has been canceled. Williams body has been sent for an autopsy.
