NSU names Zach Adkins as their starting QB

Posted: Updated:
NATCHITOCHES, La. -

Northwestern State head coach Jay Thomas named junior college transfer Zach Adkins his starting quarterback Friday.  The Demons open the season Thursday at Missouri State.

Adkins was a highly touted junior college player from California's Riverside City College where he threw 28 touchdowns and for more than 2700 yards last year.  He won the job after a lengthy competition with two true freshmen and one redshirt freshman who appear to have the position in a good place for several years.
