Authorities in Pope County say an inmate has escaped from the county jail.
29-year-old Nicholas Scott Allen escaped Saturday morning prior to a headcount. There was no immediate word on how Allen escaped.
A statement from the county sheriff's office describes Allen as 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing orange jail-issued clothing and may be traveling in a green 1997 Ford Taurus.
Officials say Allen was serving time for three misdemeanor charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental operations. He also was serving a 30-day sentence for two other misdemeanor charges of failure to appear and failure to pay.
Police say Allen is not armed but that anyone who sees him should not approach.
