Suspect arrested in Queensborough shooting

Posted: Updated:

Authorities have arrested a Shreveport man in connection with a shooting that sent two people to the hospital Friday evening.

Just after 6:30 p.m. On August 23, 2013, Shreveport Police were called to the 3400 block of Darien Street relative to a shooting.  Upon their arrival on scene, officers learned two victims were shot while reportedly walking in the 3400 block of Darien Street.  Authorities identified the victims as 21 year old Demetrius Brooks along with a 17 year old female.  Brooks, who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, was transported via ambulance to LSUHSC.  The female victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was initially transported by private auto to Willis-Knighton Medical center and later by ambulance to LSUHSC.  The victims injuries were said to be non life threatening and both are expected to survive.  Shreveport Police, Violent Crimes detectives along with Crime scene personnel were called to the scene, immediately launching an investigation into the shooting.  During the course of the inquiry, authorities learned Brooks and the female victim were amongst a group of individuals walking in the 3400 block of Darien Street, when their group was allegedly fired upon by a male suspect armed with a handgun.  Authorities gathered evidence at the scene of the crime linking 18 year old La'darrius Lee of the 3500 block of Darien Street in Shreveport to the shooting.  Lee was reportedly observed standing in the roadway firing multiple rounds into a crowd of people to include the victims.  Efforts by patrol officers and investigators to locate Lee came to fruition, as Lee was apprehended at a home in the block of 3500 block Darien Street.   Lee was taken into custody without incident and transported to Shreveport Police headquarters.  Following interviews with detectives, Lee was booked into the Shreveport City Jail where he now faces two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder.  The investigation into the shooting is still underway as authorities seek to piece together what events led up to the incident.
