Getting a kick out of college

Posted: Updated:
GRAMBLING, La. -

Last season Johnathan Wallace sat in the stands at Grambling and almost couldn't watch.  Not because the Tigers were losing, but because of the way they were losing.  Wallace was in the stands in September, when the Tigers, who did not have a kicker, lost to Alabama State by one point.  Unable to even kick an extra point the Tigers suffered through a 1-10 season, with three of their conference losses by three points or less.

All that helped Wallace, an all-state kicker out of Rayville, make his decision, he was going to play at Grambling.  The Tigers open their season Saturday at home against Alabama A&M and Wallace is this week's Rountree Ford Athlete of the Week.
