LSU displays passing attack vs TCU

Posted: Updated:
ARLINGTON, Tx. -

Many questions about LSU's 2013 look were answered Saturday night when the Tigers opened up the season 1-0.  The 37-27 victory over Big 12 team TCU extended LSU head coach Les Miles' FBS record for consecutive non-conference regular season victories to an outstanding 42.

One of those answered questions was would we notice the influence of new offensive coordinator Cam Cameron on LSU's rather stagnant pass game and the answer was yes.  The Tigers displayed a balanced offensive attack highlighted by stellar third down performances by Zach Mettenberger and his veteran receiving corps of Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry.  Mettenberger was 8 for 14 on third down for 130 yards and a touchdown, and Miles believes that's where the Tigers won the game.

In his first 8 games as the Tigers starter, Mettenberger threw for under 200 yards.   In his last 6 games under center for LSU, he has surpassed that total 5 times. LSU will host UAB on Saturday.
