Who Wants To Be A Movie Star?

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT/BOSSIER CITY, La. -

Last week we caught up with Charlize Theron in downtown Shreveport. She is the actress who recently captivated us with her evil role in "Snow White and the Huntsman" and the "Alien's" prequel movie "Prometheus". She was downtown shooting her latest movie called "Dark Places". She will be shooting in and around Shreveport for the rest of the month.

Just like any movie "Dark Places" needs need extra actors and actresses. Extras like Shreveport native Edie Foy. Foy has been in a number of movies like "Harold and Kumar 2", "Beyond A Reasonable Doubt" with Michael Douglas. Both of those movies were shot around Shreveport. "Out of all the stars that I have worked with Michael Douglas is one of the nicest young men I have ever met. I don't know they were doing, something with the set and we were just standing there, he looked at me and I looked at him and I said how is your daddy? We talked for 30 minutes," says Foy.

She has appeared in more than a dozen major motion pictures and just about all of them were shot in or around Shreveport. "It was just a lot of fun. It really was. You got paid for having fun," says Foy.

Foy says it's very easy to get into the movies when they come to town. She says all you need is a good picture of yourself and a resume describing your skills, availability and contact info.  Then you need to get in touch and register with a local casting agency. Foy recommends Legacy Casting. They are online and have offices in Dallas and Shreveport. Over the past nine years the Shreveport / Bossier Film Commission has received more than a hundred calls for major motion film directors and TV shows wanting to come here to make a movie and dish out money to people wanting to act and sometimes they come back and do it again.

Several big time movie stars actually started out as little know extras in movies.  Sylvester Stalon, Brad Pitt, and Bruce Willis all played extras in movies before they hit the big time.
