Jay walking on high road

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La -

Northwestern State will play its home opener Saturday against Southern and got a locker room full of bulletin board material from one of the Jaguars.  Southern senior linebacker Anthony Balancier told a Baton Rouge television station that the Demons were "horrible."  When the reporter followed that by asking if he meant they stink, Balancier responded "Yeah, you could say that."

NSU head coach Jay Thomas says he was sent a clip of the comments, shared it with his coaches and then the team and copies of the comments were posted in the locker room.  But THomas says he does not want his team to get caught in a ward of words.  When asked about Southern today on his visit to Shreveport, Thomas told KTBS 3 Sports that the Jaguars are a good team and this is a big game.

It should be noted that Balancier has never played for a team that has won more than four games and last week the Jaguars lost to Houston 62-13.
