Texas teen hailed as hero, rescues kidnap victim

Posted: Updated:
Texarkana, Texas -

A Texas A&M - Texarkana student and his friend are being hailed as heroes after their quick thinking saved a young kidnapping victim near Dallas.

The 19-year old college student, Aaron Arias, and his friend Jamal Harris had stopped at red light in Seagoville, Texas August 23rd, when they noticed an attractive young woman in the back seat of the car next to them.

Arias called 9-1-1 and told the operator the woman looked panicked and was mouthing "help me."

Scared of what might happen to the woman the teens tailed the car for almost a half hour.

Police eventually caught up to them.

The teens later learned the 25-year old woman had allegedly been hit with a gun and forced into her car at gunpoint.

Arias met her at the scene after the rescue.

"She was like I just want to hug you, that was literally payment for everything we did, said Arias.

"Aaron was in my sociology class, he did tell us he saved a girl from being rape and murdered. I think that's an incredible act to do and very honorable, "said Alexa Murphy, Aaron's classmate at Texas A&M -Texarkana.

Arias is from the Dallas area, but is now a Freshman Biology major at Texas A&M - Texarkana.
