Demons dominate home opener

NATCHITOCHES, La. -

Northwestern State's football squad shined in front of nearly 15,000 fans Saturday night.  The Demons' offense lit up the scoreboard in a 55-14 win over Southern University.  The Jaguar Defense had no answer for NSU quarterback Zach Adkins.  Adkins threw for 331 yards and three scores and the offense racked up more than 500 yards.  The win puts the Demons at 2-0 on the year, making head coach Jay Thomas only the third coach in school history to win his first two games.  It was the first meeting between the schools since 2002.
