Let the Battle begin

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La -

Shreveport will be host to one of the biggest and best high school football weekends of the year this week when it hosts the Battle On The Border at Independence Stadium.  Ten teams from three states will play five games this weekend in a showcase for the sport and the city.

Representatives from the city, along with sponsors, partners and coaches and players from the ten teams taking part, got together Monday morning at the stadium to talk about the big weekend.  Shreveport mayor Cedric Glover said the city looks forward to showing all the visitors great Louisiana hospitality and the great high school football the area is also known for, but when the teams take the field, Glover joked that the hospitality would end there.

On Friday St. Thomas More of Lafayette will play Calvary at 6pm, followed by Bastrop vs. C. E. Byrd.  Then Saturday there will be a tripleheader, beginning with Acadiana and Neville at 2pm, followed by Marshall, TX against Parkway, with Longview and a very good Olive Branch, MS team rounding things out Saturday night
