U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., Tuesday announced $180,000 in Economic Development Administration (EDA) funds to create the Arkansas-Louisiana Regional Coordinating Council, a partnership between Louisiana Tech University and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. This council will conduct economic analysis and develop a marketing strategy to support private capital investment and job creation in the region. With Sen. Landrieu's support, Louisiana Tech has secured more than $4.5 million in EDA funds since 2004.

"This grant is another example of Louisiana Tech's continued leadership to spur job growth and economic development in North Louisiana," Sen. Landrieu said. "Working in collaboration with the University of Arkansas, Louisiana Tech will develop an innovative strategy to promote our region to create and retain jobs. Over the years I have been proud to partner with Louisiana Tech on economic development initiatives, and I will continue to work with them to bring much needed investments to our region."

In addition to Tuesday's announcement, Louisiana Tech has received the following EDA funds with Sen. Landrieu's support:

• $2 million in 2009 for infrastructure development (roads, utilities, green space)
