Stadium staff, police prepare ahead of Battle on the Border

Even before spectators hit the road for Independence Stadium, Shreveport Police are preparing for this weekend's Battle on the Border.

"The track record of safety at Independence Stadium is not by accident," says Marcus Hines, SPD Public Information Officer. "This is something that's over the years proven to be very effective and we want to thank law enforcement and other first responders for that."

SPD says 40+ officers will be on hand. Their roles vary from directing traffic to checking bags at the front door and keeping the peace in the stands.

Prohibited Items:

 

  • No Outside Food or Drink
  • No Ice Chests
  • No Umbrellas
  • No Oversize Bags (Bags must fit in 12″×12″ box)
  • No Mace / Pepper Spray
  • No Tazers / Stun Guns
  • No Pocket Tools
  • No Straight Blades
  • No Fireworks
  • No Video Cameras
  • No Knives
  • No Weapons

 

Alcohol Policy

No alcohol can be brought into the stadium. Beer will not be available for sale in the stadium!

Smoking Policy

The Shreveport Police Department wants to make everyone aware of the City of Shreveport's smoking regulations. Current laws prohibit smoking inside Independence Stadium. Anyone who wishes to smoke will be allowed to exit the Stadium. Fans will be directed to gate personnel who will hole punch their ticket and stamp their hand. The punched ticket stub and stamped hand will be required for re-entry into the Stadium. Smoking is prohibited inside the Stadium and within 25′ of any gate. This will be enforced byShreveport Police Department officers working the game.
