Tech gearing up for Big XII visit

Posted: Updated:
RUSTON, La -

Louisiana Tech will try to pick itself up after last week's loss to Tulane with a non-conference game at Kansas of the Big XII on Saturday.  Tech head coach Skip Holtz told reports Monday he felt his team's defense played a very good game last Thursday night, but the effort was overshadowed by a poor performance by the offense.  When Tech turned the ball over early in the third quarter, Tulane had the ball at the 30 yard line and actually was forced backwards three yards before kicking a field goal.  later, the offense fumbled the ball at its own two yard line and the Green Wave scored one play later.  Holtz made the point that off two Tech turnovers, the Bulldog defense held Tulane to -1 yard but surrendered ten points.  On four Tulane turnovers, the Tech offense was only able to produce three points.

Holtz also told reporters that quarterback Scotty Young, who left Thursday's game with an injury, has bruised ribs.  He also said running back Kenneth Dixon, who missed Thursday night's game with a knee injury, is looking better.  Holtz called both players "probable" for Saturday's game at Kansas.
