Tammy Reyna as one very special three year old.
Her daughter, Jolie, has been diagnosed with Mitochondrial disease, a disease that affects the process that the body transform food into energy.
In other words, the person affected can be lacking amounts of energy.
Reyna said the disease is hard to detect because of its unique characteristics. There is also no known cure for the disease, other than vitamins.
To raise awareness for the disease some Bossier Parish schools are hosting a event "Jeans for Genes Day" to raise money for the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation for research.
It is all apart of Mitochondrial Awareness Week.
