Natchitoches meat pies

The meat pies' popularity is being spread all over thanks to a factory in Natchitoches.
Back in the day, about 200 years ago, maybe longer, the ladies of the Cane River created the meat pie. It was something easy for the field hands to eat without having to come home for dinner. 
In the 1960's, James Lasyone began to make his pies out of an old black pot and his restaurant became famous. 
In the early 80's, Lynn McCain opened the Natchitoches Meat Pie Company and started distributing meat pies all over the south.
The Natchitoches Meat Pie Company makes about 40,000 to 50, 000 meat pies a day and over a million in a month. They're shipped to grocery stores and convenient stores all over the south. The meat pies are popular at Tiger Stadium and when the Saints win, they usually sell out. 
Needless to say, the meat pie has done itself well.
