Local woman received 73 stitches after an attempted armed robbery at Louisiana Downs

Posted: Updated:

Bossier City Police are still looking for the man who attacked a woman with a knife at the Louisiana Downs Saturday, Sept. 14.

"He just looked at me and that's when I'm still screaming 'What do you want? What do you want?'"

The woman attacked last week at the Louisiana Downs parking lot does not want to be identified and says she is still trying to cope with the traumatic experience. She says she had just opened her car door in the Louisiana Downs parking lot after a night at the casino when a man came up to her, pushed her inside her car and began attacking her with a knife.

"I was screaming at the top of my lungs," the victims says. "There was nobody out at valet. There was nobody out at the doors there. They usually always have a security guard driving around."

Bossier City Police say they were quickly able to identify a suspect as a man contracted by a third party to work at a Louisiana Downs stables. However, the department hasn't made an arrest because the suspect used a fake name while he was in the area, and they believe he left on Monday- headed possibly for South Louisiana or out-of-the-country.

"We didn't think he was a risk to the public," says Mark Natale, Bossier City Public Information Officer. "We don't think his motive was murder. We think his motive was robbery."

The victim says the attack lasted about three minutes. Her wounds- which required more than 70 stitches- will take weeks to heal. But the emotional and mental trauma, she says, is the worst part.

"I don't feel safe for myself nor do I feel safe for anybody else," the victim says. "I think he's done this before. I don't think it was his first time."

KTBS 3 News contacted the Louisiana Downs about parking lot security, but representatives said they could not comment on the incident.
