Ready for Dawg day afternoon

Posted: Updated:
BATON ROUGE, La -

It's a top ten match up for LSU on Saturday as it travels to Athens to face Georgia between the hedges.  These teams have not played a regular season game there since 2009 when LSU won on a touchdown run in the final minute.  This year's Tigers team still runs the ball well, but throws it better than ever.  Quarterback Zach Mettenberger has two outstanding wide receivers in Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry and the Tigers have been getting themselves ready for Georgia.

The Bulldogs play a 3-4 defense which Mettenberger says may be different than the 4-3 scheme played by the Tigers, but Georgia swarms to the ball with great athletes which is something Mettenberger says his offense sees every day in practice.  Georgia coach Mark Richt says LSU has a great stable of running backs led by Jeremy Hill who he says has been "carrying the load."  But Richt points out all the backs love to follow big, bruising fullback J. C. Copeland who Richt says nobody wants to take on.  He says Copeland clears the way as LSU likes to come right at opponents and "crush them."

Both teams know the winner of this game not only moves to the front of the line in their respective divisions, but will immediately move right to the front in any talk about national championship contenders.
