Waskom prepares for district opener

Posted: Updated:
WASKOM, Tx. -

It's a big district opener for Waskom, TX Friday night against New Diana.  Both teams are a perfect 3-0 and the Wildcats know the first step toward qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in 21 years would be a win over the Eagles.

Waskom is putting up some incredible non-district numbers, averaging almost 58 points per game and has yet to allow an opponent to score more than seven.  They have a double-headed monster leading their rushing attack, cousins Kevin and JuneBug Johnson, who combine for 9 touchdowns and 50 percent of the carries.

The Wildcats know all of their work has led to Friday.  Waskom will try and beat New Diana for the first time since 1998.
