ULM's Kappa Sigma fraternity under investigation

Posted: Updated:

The Kappa Sigma fraternity at the University of Louisiana at Monroe has been suspended amid an investigation for hazing.

The alleged hazing reportedly occurred at an Aug. 30 bid day party. Bid days are when a fraternity or sorority selects its new members.

The News-Star reports (http://tnsne.ws/19ilcIt ) the pledges allegedly were made to drink excessive amounts of alcohol at the party, resulting in alcohol poisoning in at least one pledge.

University officials became aware of the allegations after receiving an anonymous letter detailing the alleged misconduct.

Fraternity President Ben Stokes says no rules were broken and he hopes the suspension will soon be lifted.
