SHREVEPORT, La. -

A Shreveport man is behind bars this evening following his arrest in connection with the burglary of a west Shreveport home.

Just after 8:30 a.m. on October 8, 2013, Shreveport Police officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle parked near the 4000 block of Doris Street.  Upon officer's arrival at the scene, police received information that two persons were observed backed into a private lot loading a television into a white four door sedan.  The vehicle and its occupants were no longer on scene at police arrival; however the vehicle's license plate number was recorded by a concerned citizen and provided to authorities.

Shortly after receiving the report of the suspicious vehicle, a residential burglary was reported a block away at a home located in the 4000 block of Theo Street.  Upon officer's arrival at the residence, contact was made with the home owner who advised authorities her home had been burglarized and items were taken.  Acting on instinct, patrol officers initiated a search for the suspicious vehicle observed by witnesses earlier.  Officer's efforts came to fruition when the suspect vehicle was located parked at a home in the 3800 block of Doris Street.  Upon making contact with persons inside the residence, police were granted entry where they located 18 year old Lloyd Ivory hiding inside a closet.  Ivory was taken into custody without incident and transported to police headquarters where he was interviewed by detectives.  During the investigation, officers were able to locate property stolen during the residential burglary inside the vehicle located at the home where Ivory was arrested.  Ivory himself was found to have additional stolen items on his person at the time of his arrest.  For his alleged role in the incident, Ivory was booked into the Shreveport City Jail where he now faces a single count of burglary of an inhabited dwelling. As the investigation continues, police expect an additional arrest will be made.
