SHREVEPORT, La -

The Haughton Buccaneers kicked off district play with a win Thursday night against Southwood under the lights at Lee Hedges Stadium.  The Bucs got off to a fast start, going up 14-0 early, but Southwood got within six after a Chrisna Black touchdown made it 14-8.  Haughton then picked up the pace, led by two unanswered Jarred Craft touchdown runs.  The Cowboys fought hard in the second half, but just couldn't close the gap, losing 35-14.  Haughton will now have a long week to prepare for district foe and parish rival Airline, while Southwood prepares to hit the road against Parkway.
