Byrd gets defensive in win

Posted: Updated:
BOSSIER CITY, La -

The Byrd Yellow Jackets kick off district play with a big win on the road against Airline Thursday night.  It was the Jackets 11th straight win over the Vikings.  Airline accomplished the tough task of handling Byrd's dynamic offense, shutting them out for one half.  But it was a much different story in the second, as Louis Mills and the Jackets took control, scoring 28 unanswered points to close the game.  Byrd quarterback Tyler Howard also had a hand in the final three Byrd touchdowns and was a key part in the team's 28-3 victory.  Airline will now prepare for parish rival Haughton, while the Jackets will try to keep the momentum going against cross town rival Captain Shreve.
