A water line break has resulted in the City of Bossier City issuing a boil advisory for the 1800 block of Barksdale Boulevard. The line, located in the parking lot of Bayou Outdoor Supercenter RV Store, ruptured today at approximately 1 p.m. causing the roadway in front of the business to flood. The portion of Barksdale Boulevard from I-20 north to Old Minden Road has been closed due to the amount of water on the road.
Crews with the city's utilities department have the water turned off and repairs are being made. The work is expected to be complete later this evening.
The boil advisory is in effect for the 1800 block of Barksdale Boulevard and involves just the Bayou Outdoor Supercenter RV Store which has been notified of the advisory. There are no other businesses nor are any residences affected by the advisory. Due to state regulations whenever a boil advisory is issued it must be made publicly, thus this news release.
The advisory is a precautionary measure and advises those affected to voluntarily boil their water before consuming it until the health department can test the water. The advisory pertains only to water used for consumption. Again the advisory is only a precautionary measure. This is a boil advisory, not a boil order.
The city will notify the media when the advisory is lifted.
