Big wins bring big recruits

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La -

In our weekly segment with KTBS recruiting expert Barton Simmons of 247 Sports and Comcast CSS "In The Huddle" we discuss key recruits for LSU, Arkansas and Texas.  Last Saturday LSU hosted only one official visit, but it was a big one, a 5-star from the state of California who did not have LSU high on his list before the win over Florida, but may now.  Simmons fills in some interesting details, including who the young man spent a great deal of time with, another standout the Tigers would love to land who has not yet committed, but may be leaning LSU's way now.

In the wake of LSU head coach Les Miles having another of his interesting press conference "rants" after the Florida game, we also discuss how Coach Miles is perceived by recruits, especially when he has memorable moments like he did Saturday.

The win by Texas over Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry also landed them a standout running back for 2015.  We discuss what that means, especially with the roller coaster ride this season has been in Austin.

Arkansas had an unofficial visit from an in-state defensive lineman who had a lengthy conversation with Coach Bret Bielema after the game.  Simmons fills in the reasons why.
