Caddo School Board to Interview Superintendent Finalists

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La. -

On Tuesday--Caddo Parish School board members pushed ahead with finding a new superintendent--It's the second nationwide search this school year. If the board can agree, one of three men would replace Interim Superintendent Dr. Mary Robinson Nash, A finalist last time, took the Interim spot after agreeing not to apply again for the permanent post.

Shreveport Native and Director of Training for LSU Health System, Timothy J. Magner, says he has an understanding of how technology can be used to accelerate student success.

"I think we need a strong leader that can help transform our schools and prepare our children for the 21st Century, and if I can help be that leader.   I'd be delighted to be able to do that," said Magner.

Shreveport native and current Superintendent of the Mansfield Independent School District Dr. Theodis Lamar Goree, attributes his success to the strong foundation he received in Caddo Schools.

"I'm really excited about this opportunity to come back and help continue that tradition of excellence," Goree said.

Dr. Terrence Brown of Memphis Tennessee says he's no stranger to the issues facing the district.

"I saw part of the plan that was introduced during last month's board meeting.  They spoke about consolidating some schools and closing others.  I need to be on the ground just a little bit, to really hear in depth the plan, but I believe it can work if you put the right people in place," Brown said.

The three candidates will come to Shreveport separately next week to meet with the board.
