Driver worried about retaliation after being featured in crime video

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La. -

A Shreveport woman- who does not want to be identified- says she's lucky to be alive after gunfire Saturday morning at the Raceway gas station on Hearne Ave. It's a situation Johnathan Davis, 28, did not survive.

"I heard the bullets hit off the gas pumps so I knew they weren't just shooting in the air," the woman says. "At first I was ducking. Once I got in my car, I just left."

The woman was filling up her magenta Chevrolet Impala and says she neither saw anything nor knows anyone involved. However, she says she now is a part of the story after police released photos of her car and another as a "suspect vehicle."

"I understand they're looking for leads, but they just singled two cars out," the driver says. "That makes it look like those two cars had something to do with it."

Shreveport Police say they tracked these particular cars using surveillance video and do believe they're linked to the crime, but Sgt. Jim Taliaferro adds in a parking lot full of vehicles it's possible there are two Impalas: one burgundy and one magenta.

"There's no tint issues," Taliaferro says of the recording. "There's no sunlight issues. There's no light-washing issues that we typically get with video cameras. So we're very confident it's a burgundy vehicle."

Still the similarities are too close for comfort this driver. She's afraid someone will incorrectly link her to the shooting, and she'll become a victim herself.

"I want my name cleared [and] my car cleared," she says. "You don't know what people are thinking these days in order to retaliate."
