Union President speaks out about prison workers not being paid during shutdown

Posted: Updated:
TEXARKANA -

Employees with the Texarkana Federal Correctional Institution have been working the last 16 days without pay.

Union President and FCI employee John Tosh says they will probably be compensated with pay but they don't know when. Meanwhile, he says they are still concerned about the future.

"The stress level at the institution has been very high. People are worried about paying their bills, it even came down to people were worried about putting gas in their vehicle to come to work" says Tosh.

At this point, Tosh says it's also unclear whether sick leave and vacation time will be compensated.
