DOYLINE, La. -

A Doyline man is recovering after being shot by a Webster Parish Sheriff's Officer.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday evening. Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton tells KTBS 3 News that officers were responding to a domestic violence call in the 700 block of Carter Road in Doyline. When officers arrived, 45 year-old Bert Houston reported walked out onto his porch armed with a bow and arrow and attempted to shoot at the officers. One of the officers fired two shots at Houston striking him twice in one leg.

Houston was transported by Life Air to University Health in Shreveport where he is still hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries.

Houston is being charged with Domestic Violence/Battery, Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer and Convicted Felon in possession of a fire arm.

The officer who shot Houston is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
