MONROE, La. -

The Delete Blood Cancer team is working with students on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe and the family of local resident, Andrew Moffett, a 29 year-old blood cancer patient, to sign up potential donors in the fight against blood cancer. The Moffett family will be onsite to assist with the donor match process, which consists of filling out consent forms and swabbing the inside of the cheek. The process is quick and painless. Anyone from ages 18-55 can become registered and serve as potential lifesaver for Andrew or someone else in need.

Delete Blood Cancer is a global organization that leads the fight to eradicate blood cancer by empowering people to take action, donate bone marrow and save lives. With over 3.5 million registered bone marrow donors worldwide, Delete Blood Cancer is the largest bone marrow donor center in the world. The  University of Louisiana at Monroe, College of Health Sciences Department  and the ULM Athletic Department are working together to save lives, raise awareness and register donors while the two football teams rush to win on the field.  However, the patients that this drive will help will be the true reward from this event.

People are urged to join the fight and register on Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the tailgating areas located at The Grove and Pecan Grove areas on the ULM campus.

A second drive will also be held the following day, Sunday, October 27, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in West Monroe.
