Parkway, Byrd make high school history

Posted: Updated:
BOSSIER CITY, La. -

It was a historic clash Friday night when No. 2 Parkway defeated No. 4 Byrd in the biggest North Louisiana high school match up in many years.

A record crowd gathered at Preston Crownover Stadium to catch some of the best talent in District 1-5a.  In the end, Parkway beat Byrd 52-29 for the second straight season.  Just last year, the Panthers snapped a 7 game losing streak to the Jackets and now they're starting their own win streak.

These two teams plus Airline shared the district title but with the victory Friday, Parkway is in sole possession of first place.  Now, this victory was only for bragging rights because both Parkway and Byrd can end up with state titles this year with the new high school playoffs this season.
