ArkLaTex Angels- Gene, Devin and Dakeila

CADDO PARISH, La. -

A day at the petting zoo is just one more activity for a brother-sister trio to enjoy together, but they already do so much.

"Ride bikes, go outside, play basketball, football," said Gene, 8 years old.

Whatever the situation, gene keeps an eye on his little brother Devin, 7, and little sister Dakeila, 6.

"Take care of them," he said. "Tell them not to do wrong stuff."

The siblings are a team but each independent.

"[I] Put on my clothes. And get ready to go to school," Dakeila said about her morning routine.

They like going to school, and love to learn several different subjects.

"Science!" said Devin. He says it comes easy to him.

"Math because I like multiplication," said Gene.

The trio is all up for adoption, and the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services want to find one forever home for all three.

"If we can keep them together, that's always better," said Kerri Byrd, the sibling's case worker. "Especially a group of kids who have been together their whole lives. They obviously have a very strong bond to each other. So that is our first priority, to keep them together."

And since kids grow up so fast, Byrd would like to see them in a forever home soon.

"They're going to be going into their teenage years, and you know you just need guidance and help to get through those times," she said.

These three might realize that to be important one day, but big brother Gene wants to make sure their forever family is some quality time together.

"To go on a road trip and have fun," he said.

Gene, Devin and Dakeila like so many children in our area are up for adoption. If you would like to learn more about theses siblings or the other children in the adoptive program, call the Department of Children and Family Services at 676-7100.

A special thanks to Jubilee Zoo for allowing the story to take place there.
