Sore like an Eagle; LA Tech readies for winless Southern Miss

Posted: Updated:
RUSTON, La -

Saturday night Louisiana Tech hosts winless Southern Miss which has lost 20 in a row.  The Golden Eagles haven't won a game since 2011, but that year Southern Miss opened with a win over Louisiana Tech on a rainy night in Hattiesburg.  A win for the Bulldogs would keep them in contention for a bowl game. A win for Southern Miss would make their season.

Head coach Skip Holtz said this about the game, "Getting into this game, it is the Rivalry in Dixie. All the history since 1935 and the 31-13 series, I know 41 percent of the games have been decided by one score or less. This is what you talk about when you get into conference play. When you get into some of these geographical rivalries. When you have the opportunity to start to go against someone every year. I think this is a natural rivalry, not only with the history, but with the geographical location of being in the same league is only going to add more and more to this rivalry."

This is a game Tech cannot afford to get away.
