Trying to turn the Tide

BATON ROUGE, La -

The LSU-Alabama game is still huge even if it's not the "Game of the Century."
The top-ranked Crimson Tide and No. 10 LSU are gearing up for a prime-time Southeastern Conference matchup Saturday night. It might even be a must-win in Alabama's bid for a third consecutive national championship.
   Maybe.
Alabama (8-0, 5-0 SEC) has overcome down-to-the-wire November defeats the past two seasons -- to Texas A&M and the Tigers -- and still managed to claim the title, thanks to timely losses by other contenders.
Now, four other unbeaten teams are lined up just waiting for the Tide to falter.
Quarterback AJ McCarron figures one loss is "probably not" going to be good enough. But he's focusing on "what we need to do to take care of business."

As Jeremy Hill prepares for this week's eagerly awaited visit to top-ranked Alabama, the LSU running back is spending considerable time reflecting on his performance in last year's memorable clash.
Hill was disappointed with himself, despite rushing for 107 yards and a touchdown. He says he lacked discipline and trust in his teammates on a few key runs in which he lost yardage by giving up on the play design. LSU lost a lead in the final minute of a 21-17 setback, and Hill still dwells on a 3-yard loss that helped stall a drive during which LSU could have run out the clock with one more first down.
He pledges to be more disciplined when No. 10 LSU meets the Crimson Tide on Saturday night.
