Evangel prepares to meet Loyola's tough ground game

SHREVEPORT, La -

Evangel is ready to pull out all of their tricks Friday as the postseason begins.  They face a gauntlet in their select school Division II bracket, with perennial powerhouse teams like John Curtis, Parkview Baptist, and Notre Dame, just to name a few.

But the Eagles meet up with in-town foe Loyola Prep in the opening round Friday.  Evangel breezed through district, outscoring their opponents 206-18, and in their last 3 contests, recorded 3 straight shut outs.

The eagles defense will have their work cut out for them against the Flyers and their talented running back Eldrick English, who on a good day can easily break 200 yards.

Evangel is focused on more than just getting to the dome this year. The Eagles came up short in the semi-finals 2 years ago and then fell in the finals last season.
