Early morning water main break in Shreveport leaves school temporarily without water

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La -

Aging infrastructure is to blame for a busted water main in Shreveport.

It happened around 4:00 a.m. Thursday morning in the 400 block of Hearne Avenue.

Officials tell us that the 8 inch line broke in two places close together.

J.S. Clark Elementary school was without water for a brief time.

Water was restored at the school around 8:15 a.m. however, a couple of businesses in the area are still without water.

At one time this morning, police had to barricade the street because water go so high that cars could not pass safely.

The roadway has since reopened.

No boil advisory has been issued for the area and officials do not expect one to be issued.
