Children's Hospital of Wisconsin on lockdown, reports of a shooting

Posted: Updated:
MILWAUKEE, WI (WISN) -

UPDATE: Police have shot the suspect.

Several law enforcement agencies responded Thursday to a shooting at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke said a call came in at 11:59 a.m. of a shooting on the seventh floor of the hospital

Clarke said Milwaukee Police Department officers were in the building to apprehend a felon wanted on a warrant.

He said officers located the man in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on the seventh floor and was holding an infant. Clarke said police officers informed the man he was under arrest. Clarke said the man then put down the infant and ran away from officers.

Clarke said the man produced a handgun during the foot chase, and officers fired and apprehended the man.

He said the felon was the only person injured in the incident.

The Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office and Wauwatosa Police are investigating the incident. The Milwaukee County District Attorney's office is also on scene as a matter of protocol for officer-involved shootings.

We've been told by many veterans that they receive quality care at the V.A. hospital in Shreveport. But for some getting an appointment to see their caregivers is the challenge. According to our V.A., they do not have a problem getting patients seen quickly - and the numbers they report echo that conclusion. We’ve uncovered concerns, however, over how their numbers look so good - while patients are still waiting to be seen.“Certainly from my viewpoint here, as a veteran, as a physician, the c...
