Sleep Out For Independence

Posted: Updated:

Homelessness is a problem all across the nation and right here in Shreveport. But folks here in the city are hoping to tackle the issue head on with Sleep out for Independence.

They've already begun setting up for campaign this weekend. Louisiana Tech students made the drive all the way out from Ruston to do their part. The students delivered and made a cardboard house to signify their support for the effort. Samantha Raburn is one of those students. Raburn said, "It was a great opportunity for us to get involved in something bigger than what we have at Louisiana Tech in Ruston so this gave us an opportunity to expand into cities around us."

Sleep Out for Independence takes place this weekend at Independence Stadium. It's a fundraiser for The Providence House. You can either participate or show up and support starting at 8 Saturday morning.
