Captain Shreve students win journalism honors

SHREVEPORT, La -

Captain Shreve seniors Windy Steele and Carson Mullins placed first and second, respectively, in the news writing competition at the Louisiana Scholastic Press Association conference at LSU in Baton Rouge.

Captain Shreve's student newspaper, The Enterprise, once again earned statewide honors. The Enterprise won third place for best all-around newspaper for the 2012-2013 school year. Senior Alexis Spano won second place in the newspaper competition for best inside spread design. Teacher Kevin Allen is the newspaper sponsor.

Members of the 2012-2013 newspaper editorial board are Brittney Thomas, editor-in-chief; Alona Warren, features editor; Camden Clark, photo editor; Windy Steele, copy editor; and Alexis Spano, in-depth editor.

Members of Captain Shreve's newspaper staff attended the conference Nov. 14 to participate in workshops and on-site competitions and to tour the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication.
