Student accused of assaulting teacher

Posted: Updated:

Sheriff's deputies say a 17-year-old high school student has been arrested for allegedly threatening to blow up Northeast High School as well as a faculty member's vehicle.

The Advocate reports East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff's deputies booked the teenager Monday on counts of assault on a schoolteacher, terrorizing, communicating false information and flight from an officer.

Deputies say the student made those threats when he was kicked out of the library for acting out.

When the deputy tried to arrest the teen, the student ran out the school and into a grassy area before the deputy deployed his stun gun.

Police say the student told the deputy that he did not say he would blow up the school, but said someone else should.
