Dallas-area man pleads guilty to 5 bank robberies

Posted: Updated:

A Dallas-area man has pleaded guilty to five armed bank robberies this year and confessed to more than a dozen other holdups since 2010.

Prosecutors in Dallas say 59-year-old Luis de la Garza of Farmers Branch faces a maximum 25 years in prison per count. Sentencing is set for February.

De la Garza pleaded guilty to bank robberies in Dallas, Grand Prairie, Farmers Branch, Arlington and Garland since March. Investigators say he wore a mesh mask, a cap and gloves and used a BB gun pistol in each holdup.

De la Garza, in Tuesday's plea deal, acknowledges he committed 13 other bank robberies and two attempted holdups in North Texas since April 2010.
