Griffin's Good Life: Bennett Sewell

Posted: Updated:

81 year old Bennett Sewell, a retired pathologist, took on a major project a couple of years back which crossed all economic, ethnic and religious lines.

Now he's now sharing the results with the community. A reception was recently held at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum for the opening of an exhibit showing the results of Sewell's project.

The exhibit features the life stories -- along with portraits taken by Brian Lewis -- of 24 men and women all over the age of 75.

"They know how to live life. They know what the essence of being a good human is," Sewell said. "They know how to take care of family and friend. They have the priorities straight and they live a life of responsibility." They

And Sewell is hoping that the younger generation can learn from the life stories of the 24 he interviewed.

"They're just wonderful examples of Americans and I wanted to show the difference between ordinary Americans, good people, and what you see on television."

So why, at 81, is Sewell still staying so busy?

"I'd like to enjoy, and I enjoy doing things. And some of the things I'd like to do is to advance common good." he said

Sewell said that in doing this project which was not divided by any economic, ethnic or religious lines, his good life was enhanced by a chance to develop 24 new friends of both genders and various faiths.
