Grambling hoping for a classic Classic

Posted: Updated:
Grambling, LA -

Grambling and Southern face off Saturday in New Orleans in the Bayou Classic.  For the Tigers, who are just 1-10, this is the game that could make their entire season.  Southern is on its way to the SWAC Championship game no matter what happens in the Superdome, but it's a rivalry game which Grambling interim coach Dennis Winston says is their "Super Bowl."

Winston says this series is one in which the records of each team do not matter.  The series is certainly as even as one can get.  Coming in to this week the two teams are 30-30 all time against each other, and in the Bayou Classic series Grambling now lead 20-19 after losing a year ago.

The Tigers have been extremely competitive since Winston took over and hope to close their season with a bang that, to them, would make the halftime show the second best part of the game.
