TEXARKANA, Tex. -

At approximately 3:15 am today, officers from the Texarkana, Texas Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash in the 3300 block of St. Michaels Drive.

Officers discovered a 2010 Jeep Wrangler in the drainage ditch at the intersection of Richill Dr. and St. Michaels Drive.

Investigators determined that the jeep had left the roadway and entered the ditch while traveling west on St. Michaels Drive.

After traveling a short distance in the ditch, the jeep struck a culvert.

The driver of the jeep, 41 year old, Augustus Pope of Texarkana, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Nancy Talley.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation by members of the Texarkana Texas Police Department's Traffic Unit.  No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
