Tigers win for Mettenberger

Posted: Updated:
BATON ROUGE, La -

LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger didn't take the normal high school recruit's route to become the Tigers starter.  His path was winding but in the end, Head Coach Les Miles believes he's exactly where he should be, ending his college career in purple and gold.

As the curtain closed on his final home football game in Tiger Stadium, it wasn't what Mettenberger pictured.  The senior was being held up by a pair of crutches, while singing the alma mater.  Mettenberger suffered a knee injury and wasn't able to lead the Tigers to their eventual victory over Arkansas.  But the QB and his head coach were able to share a special postgame moment.

And as much as tigers fans wanted to hear from their leader for the past 2 seasons, Mettenberger bowed out of the postgame press conference.  After battling back against Arkansas for the victory, many of the underclassmen said they had no choice but to fight to end the season on a win for Mettenberger and the rest of the seniors.
