SHREVEPORT, La. (KTBS) -

A Shreveport Fire Department employee is facing felony charges after an alleged hit and run accident.

It happened just before noon Thursday morning. Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a report of shots fired near the intersection of Pierremont Road at Southern Avenue. When officers arrived, they found out that an earlier hit and run accident happened on East 70th Street at Southern Avenue where a man driving a 2010 Dodge Challenger reportedly rear ended a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban before fleeing the scene of the crash.

Authorities then found out that the driver of the Suburban followed the Challenger until both vehicles stopped near the intersection of Pierremont Road and Southern Avenue. Witnesses told police that the driver of the Suburban, 50 year-old Philip Hashieder, got out of his vehicle armed with a semi-automatic handgun and walked up to the driver of the Challenger who was stopped at the red light. Witnesses say that Hashieder fired at least once at the Challenger striking the vehicle's rear tire as the driver, 25 year-old John Peters drove away.

No injuries were reported during the shooting. Police found both drivers after the incident.

Peters was cited for hit and run driving for his alleged role in the incident.

Hashieder, a 17 year veteran of the Shreveport Fire Department where he is an Emergency Vehicle Technician, was arrested and charged with Illegal Use of a Weapon. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail. Hashieder was also placed on paid administrative leave for his alleged role in the incident.

A weapon believed to have been used during the course of the incident was recovered by authorities and submitted as evidence.
