Boil advisory rescinded for Bossier City

Posted: Updated:
BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTBS) -

UPDATE: The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals has rescinded the boil advisory for south Bossier City today after a water test came back negative for contaminants.

Meanwhile, repairs have been made to the portion of the northbound lanes of Barksdale Boulevard that were damaged by Wednesday's water main break. Those lanes will remain closed while newly poured concrete cures. The city anticipates reopening the northbound lanes sometime this weekend.

A water boil advisory continues for a portion of south Bossier City after a water main break.

The break happened around 7:00 a.m. Wednesday in the 4800 block of Barksdale Boulevard when a car ran into a fire hydrant at the corner of Barksdale Boulevard and Rossie Lee Drive.

Crews managed to restore water service to the area while they made repairs to the water main and the line was fixed by Wednesday evening.

Because of the loss of water service, the City of Bossier City issued a boil advisory for Bossier City residents from Panther Drive/Walker Place to the southern city limits.

The advisory is a precautionary measure and advises those in the affected area to voluntarily boil their water before consuming it until the health department can test the water. The advisory pertains only to water used for consumption. Again, the advisory is only a precautionary measure.

Stay with KTBS 3 News for updates on when the advisory will be lifted.
