CADDO PARISH, La. (KTBS) -

A Shreveport woman who was employed as a personal assistant to the owner of Philips Energy was arrested Friday morning for allegedly embezzling over $600,000 from the company.

Phyllis Longmire, 52, is accused of issuing 206 fraudulent checks and later altered the checks so that she could negotiate them.

Sheriff's Detective Bobby Herring says that Longmire created fictitious payees in the company's accounting program and then issued checks to the made-up payees. Once the checks were issued, she would alter the checks and make them payable to her husband. She then deposited the checks into her personal bank account.

Longmire was arrested for felony theft and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
