HOPE, Ark. (KTBS) -

A traffic stop in Hempstead County leads to a major drug bust and over $17K confiscated.

It happened on Tuesday, December 17 around 2:30 p.m. when Investigators Gary Dorman and Justin Crane conducted a traffic stop on a red 2008 Chevrolet pick-up. The investigators witnessed the pick-up leave a house, which had been under surveillance for possible drug activity, in the East Ridge section of Hope, Arkansas.

Once authorities stopped the pick-up truck, they found one pound of marijuana in the truck which was then seized and impounded by deputies.

Jeff Bain, 49 of Hope, was arrested and transported to the Hempstead County Detention Facility for possession with purpose to deliver.

After further investigation, investigators obtained a search warrant for the house in the 300 block of East Ridge Drive. During that search, deputies found 15 pounds of a green vegetable substance believed to be marijuana in several areas of the home, about 70 grams of crystal like substance believed to be "ice" methamphetamine, scales, items of drug paraphernalia and over $17,000 in cash.

Deputies then arrested Karen Bain, 50 of Hope, and charged her with Possession with Purpose to Deliver Marijuana, Possession with Purpose to Deliver Methamphetamine and Maintaining a Drug Premises. She was also transported to the Hempstead County Detention Facility.
