Soggy Saturday dampens All Star Game

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La -

Some of the best high school football players in the state gathered in Shreveport this week for a one of a kind all star game.  Unfortunately for the fans, coaches, and players, the weather only allowed the East and West teams to play one quarter.  Saturday was supposed to be a great day for football at Independence Stadium.  Some of the best players from around the state met on one field for one final game before heading off into life after high school football, until Mother Nature had her say.  The game was called at a 0-0 tie after the weather made it impossible for the teams to even carry the ball.  While every player was certainly disappointed by the cancellation, East All Stars and Neville head coach Mickey McCarty says it's even more painful for some players hoping to continue their football careers.  But there was one thing mother nature couldn't take away from the all stars, the experience of coming together with some of the best players around.
